Non-compliance: ANLCA, Sister Associations Picket PIL On Shippers’ Council Order

Pacific International Line Nigeria Limited (PIL), operating at Onne Seaport, Rivers State, has witnessed a peaceful protest at its operating base, today.

This is as a result of the directive from the Chairman of ANLCA, Onne Seaport chapter, Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku (Onwa) in collaboration with the Chairman of NAGAFF, Onne chapter, Forwarder Dr. Ike Okechukwu Anselem; Prince Comr. Obinna Ugochukwu, Chairman, ARFFN, Onne chapter and Chief Emeka Nwosu, Chairman, National Council of Managing Directors of Customs Licensed Agents, Onne Seaport chapter, for their members to carry out the peaceful protest.

The reason for the peaceful protest according to the freight forwarders, was as a result of the non adherence to the directive of Nigerian Shippers’ Council to PIL, based on the resolution at its tripartite meeting with freight forwarders trade group/shippers and the PIL on the 27th January, 2026.

According to the letter to the management of PIL from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council that was sighted by the Nigerian MomentumNews Online & Magazine; PIL was directed to carry out stakeholders’ engagements, among others, before carrying out any increase in its service charges.

It was however, learnt that PIL ignored all the directives from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and went ahead to implement the current charges against the wish of the Council that gave it the mandate to collect such charges.

The peaceful protest which commenced today, the 4th of February, 2026 is expected to continue tomorrow, pending the reversal of the increased charges by PIL.
