A body of Igbo businessmen in Onne, known as Peculiar Gents Dynamic Nobles Social Club of Nigera, Onne, Rivers State, has concluded its Music Lunch and 10th Year Anniversary celebration in grand style.
In his address presentation, the club Secretary, Mr. Hilary Ajah, gave a brief history of the club, which according to him was an idea of just 6 persons that metamorphosed to what the club is currently known for.
The Secretary, despite the challenges of the club, further enumerated on some of the achievements of the club in the last 10 years, which include: registration of the club with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and acquisition of a property, among others.
Mr. Ajah in the same vein, lauded the founding fathers and other members of the club for sustaining the tempo of the club, as well as the invitation that was extended to Mr. Ayaka Ozubulu, an Igbo cultural music artiste to perform at the event.
Speaking in an interview at the event which took place at Ejor Pool, Onne, Rivers State, on the 9th of December, 2023, the club President, Mazi Uche Nweke expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God for the success of the event, particularly on the wisdom that God granted him to manage the affairs of the club, adding that the 10th Anniversary programme wouldn’t have been a success, if not for the support of BoT and the entire members of the club.
On the invitation to Ayaka Ozubulu, Mazi Nweke disclosed that he has not any invitation of an Igbo music artiste to come and perform at any event in Onne, hence, their collective resolve to invite Ayaka Ozubulu for a live performance at their 10th Year Anniversary and the lunch of a music album in honour the club by Mr. Ayaka Ozubulu; as we as provide an opportunity for other Igbo music artistes to come and perform in Onne.
He further used the occasion to thank the BoT, Exco and all members of the club, for the “Excellence Award” that was presented to him at the anniversary event.
In the same vein, the Patron of the club, High Chief John Eze (Omekannaya 1 of Ideato), thanked the club Exco and the its planning committee, for the successful nature of the event.
He used the medium to appreciate all and sundry in the club, for the confidence that they reposed in him, particularly on the “Excellence Award” that was bestowed on him as their Patron.
He, however, promised to continue to do his best, in order not to disappoint them, adding that the doors of the club are wide open for intending members to come and join the club, for their good and that of their respective families.
On his part, the pioneer president and current BoT Chairman of Peculiar Gents Dynamic Nobles Social Club of Nigeria, Mr. Chinazaekpere Collins Urakpa, enumerated on some of his challenges and achievements in managing the affairs of the club for 6 years, before he became the BoT Chairman of the club.
He was optimistic that an ‘Award of Excellence’ that was presented to him by the club at the 10th Year Anniversary will spur him to do more, adding that it was indication of the fact that the club was appreciate of his contributions to the stability and growth of the association.
Responding, Chief Christian Ikenna Nnaji (Peculiar Gentleman), the MD/CEO, lK Marine Nigeria Limited and the Treasurer of Peculiar Gents Dynamic Nobles Social Club of Nigeria, expressed his gratitude for being part of the history making event of the club.
Chief Nnaji, who described the club as a forum of like minds, lauded the planning committee and members of the club for the 10th Year Anniversary and presentation of an “Excellence Award” to him by the club.
While Dr. Nerus Ihejieto, the Vice President of the club, was optimistic that the club will continue to soar higher locally and internationally, adding that a lot has been put in place by members to give the club a better footing.
Similarly, Chief Ude Edwin, (Ezekwesili 1 in Enugu), a maritime transporter at Onne Seaport, Rivers State, disclosed his admiration and desire to join the club, as a result of its way of doing things, particularly on its welfare packages for members.
Chief Ude, who spoke on the multiple taxation is being faced by transporters within and outside Onne Seaport, noted that such taxations never existed in the Northern part of the country, hence, his view that the multiple taxation was targeted at the Igbos that have the love and unity of Nigeria at heart, more than any other tribe in the country.
Highlights at the event include: live music performance by Ayaka Ozubulu and the unveiling of club’s music album by Ayaka Ozubulu and presentation of “Award of Excellence” to deserving members of the club.
