Recently, the Nigerian Customs Licensed Agents (ANLCA) held its Board of Trustees (BoT) election across its three (3) zones, which comprised of the North, East and the West.

At the end of accreditation, voting and counting of ballot papers at the venue of the election in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital, Chief Kingsley Offor came first with a total number of 105 and one void votes, Chief Sir Ernest Elochukwu came second with a total of 100 votes, while Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha came 3rd with a total number of 99 votes, among nine other candidates.
During the election, the then nine (9) to be elected BoT members were said to conduct its internal election after their emergence, to elect who becomes its Chairman, among others.
However, the inaugural meeting and election of chairman, vice and secretary of the board, took place in Lagos State on Tuesday, the 24th of September, 2024 where Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha was elected as the chairman, Chief Dennis Okafor, the vice chairman and Chief Kingsley Offor as the secretary of ANLCA BoT.
Speaking on a telephone interview with Nigerian MomentumNews Online & Magazine, the National Vice President of ANLCA, Prince Shegun Oduntan described the recently concluded BoT election that brought about the emergence of nine (9) elected members of the board, as a proof of an administration with listening ears.
He disclosed that the idea of conducting the BoT election in the 3 respective zones of the association simultaneously, than bringing all delegates to a particular zone for the election, as it used to be in the past, was conceived by the NECOM and made known to ANLCA members, as well as the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO), who accepted the proposal that heralded the free, fair, credible and less expensive elections in one day.
While attributing the successes so far recorded in managing the affairs of the association to the able leadership of the National President, Mr. Emenike Kingsley Nwokeoji, Prince Oduntan further asserted that the association now has a balanced board members, where you have representative from the North, East and Western Zones of ANLCA.
Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku
Assessing the leadership and some of the seizures made by Nigeria Customs Service in the last one year, under the leadership of CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Prince Oduntan opined that the CGC has done well in piloting the affairs of NCS in the last one year plus, stating that the clearing of those illicit drugs, arms and ammunitions as witnessed in Lagos and Rivers States, were done by quacks in the system, as being experienced in other professions.
The vice president in the meantime, affirmed that the current leadership of ANLCA has over the time, been educating its members on the theme: “Know Your Customers (KYC),” adding that the NECOM has made it possible for people to seat at their comfort zones and access who is a member of ANLCA or not.
Responding on challenges, Prince Oduntan acknowledged the numerous challenges that ANLCA was faced with in the past, hence the reason why they came up with the slogan “restoration”, to bring back the lost glory, which the association has been known for, over the years in the meantime industry.

In the same vein, the MD/CEO of Odest Global Resources Limited (Operators of Odest Bonded Terminals); Chief Hon. Ifeanyi Isikaku, MD/CEO, Godify Group of Companies Limited (Operators of Slot Bonded Terminal) and Rtn. Deacon Chinedu Ikenga, GM, Prestige Associates Limited (Operators of Prestige Bonded Terminal), have congratulated the National President of ANLCA, Mr. Emenike Kingsley Nwokeoji, NECOM and ASECO, for the successful outcome of the recently concluded BoT election.
They, in the meantime, felicitated with the newly elected Chairman of the BoT, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Chief Dennis Okafor, the Vice Chairman and Chief Kingsley Offor as the board Secretary, among other sox (6) members of the board, and wished them the very best in their future endeavours.
Recall that the likes of: Mr. Igweonu Onyinye of Beta Grace Logistics Limited; Mr. Innocent Ogbuji, General Manager, Government Relations, WACT; Rtn. Chinedu Ikenga of Ben Terry Nigeria Limited and Prince Samuel Amadi, MD/CEO, Samdis World Wide Solution Limited, among other respondents, described the BoT election in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital as seamless, peaceful, free, fair and less expensive in the history of ANLCA elections.
While Chief Kingsley Offor, a BoT membership contestant then, who scored the highest number of votes in PortHarcourt, said his first position in the election was as a result of the love and trust that the people have on him, and promised to do his best in order not to let them down, if elected.
The two ASECO members from the Western Zone that conducted the election, said in an interview that the final results would come from Lagos State, after final collation of results from the three (3) zones, while affirming that the election was free, fair and transparent.
