The saying that reward for hard work is more work, was made manifest in the life and career of Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, the Customs Area Comptroller of Onne Area II Command, as he was recently honoured by CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, during the Award/Gala Night organized in his honour at Abuja.
The essence of the award was basically on Onne Command’s unwavering effort to stop the importation of illicit drugs, arms and ammunition, among others, which resulted in saving the lives of many Nigerians.
Speaking on the award, the Customs Area Comptroller, Mr. Mohammed Babandede attributed the success story to the tireless efforts of men and officers of the Command, affirming that he wouldn’t have done it alone, if not for the collective efforts of all and sundry in the Command, which was aimed at ensuring public health and safety of lives.
The CAC however, appreciated every officer and men of the Command for their contribution towards making the country a safer place to live.
Recall that the CGC of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, had in the last few months visited Onne Area II Customs Command, Rivers State, twice on the seizures of several cargoes containing illicit drugs, arms and ammunition, among other unlawful items that were imported into the country.
The incessant importation of illicit drugs, arms and ammunition, among others, prompted the CGC to declare a 3 month state of emergency on at Onne Seaport.
