NCS Seme Area Command Hands Over Erring Officers To Its Police Unit …Set To Investigate Civilians’ Maltreatment Viral Video

In realization of its earlier promise and determination to arrest and investigate officers alleged to have been involved the maltreatment of some individuals in a viral video.

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), it would be recalled, had on Monday, 2 December 2024, in a statement disclosed that the Command had commenced the investigation into the alleged maltreatment of some individuals by its officers.

At a press briefing by the Customs Area Comptroller (CAC), Mr. Kayode Kolade said that a preliminary investigation revealed that Two (2) officers, namely, Superintendent of Customs TA Inemugha and Assistant Superintendent of Customs II GO Aboribo, have been identified and arrested, adding that the two erring officers will be handed over to the Customs Police Unit for further investigation.

The CAC disclosed that the behavior of the officers does not reflect the professional practice of the service, especially now that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is committed to holding its officers to the highest standard of Integrity and professionalism.

The Area Comptroller further stated that the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi condemned in strong terms the unethical conduct of these officers and directed that the officers should be taken to the NCS Headquarters for a full-scale investigation and decisive disciplinary measures.

He added that the complainants are also requested to make themselves available to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Comptr. Kolade affirmed that Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) remains committed to ensuring transparency in all its operational mandates and as such, will not condone any form of misconduct within its ranks, and will continue to work for the overall interest of the Nigerian public.
