A member representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, has promised to carry out an empowerment programme that will shake the state and his constituency in particular, in no distant time.
The “Eugene of Imo Politics,” who made the promise while briefing his constituents on the 4th of January, 2025 at Oru West LGA Headquarters, Imo State, assured other wards that are yet to benefit from his empowerment programmes to be patient with him.
This is said to be the first time in the history of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency, an elected Federal House of Representatives member is serving his constituents with utmost sincerity, integrity, and profound dedication to the service of the people he is representing.
History, was however, made at Mgbidi, Imo State, as Hon. Dibiagwu presented his score card to his constituents on his journey so far at the National Assembly, which was adjudged by all and sundry constituents as a welcome development.
Recall that during his campaign days, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu assured the good people of Ohaji/Egbema Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency that he will always brief and intimate them on the happenings at the National Assembly and it is evident, that the promise has come to reality.
The event was officially committed to the hands of God by Very Rev. Fr. Ernest C. Muforo.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Nwabueze Ogwuchete, chairman of the occasion, thanked God Almighty for the life and career of Hon. Dibiagwu as a Federal Lawmaker. having served as the Director General of Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu Campaign Organisation.
In his words: “I knew that Dibiagwu will perform exceedingly great as the Federal Lawmaker representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency.
“Dibiagwu, ever since he was elected, has been reaching out to his people, and for the first time he has seen a Federal Lawmaker coming back home to stay and interact with his people on a weekly basis, after his legislative business in Abuja.
“He has surprised and made me proud with the good number of projects he has executed across the Federal Constituency.” Engr. Ogwuchete stated.
Briefing his constituents, Rt. Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, the Member Representing the dependable good people of Ohaji/Egbema Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency, and the Chairman, House Committee on Ministry of Regional Development, first thanked his constituents for trusting him with their mandate and for believing in his person.
He equally appreciated God for his mercies, grace, protection, and as well, dedicated all his achievements to in the last 2 years.
In law making, which has to do with Bills and Motions at the floor of the National Assembly, Hon. Dibiagwu has sponsored over six bills that have passed their first reading at the floor of the House.
Those Bills, if passed into law will definitely have a great impact in the lives of his people and Nigerians at large.
On Oversight Function, Hon. Dibiagwu is holding the chairmanship of one of the most powerful and strongest committee at the National Assembly.
He is currently the Committee Chairman on Ministry of Regional Development, having successfully chaired the Ministry of Niger Delta and Amnesty, before it was collapsed into Ministry of Regional Development.
Based on his exceptional performance, the National Assembly still deemed it wise to give him the Committee Chairman on Ministry of Regional Development, as well as the Deputy Chairman on Foreign Affairs Committee.
Hon. Dibiagwu’s representation at the National Assembly, has always been a call to service and to restore the dignity of the Federal Constituency of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency.
In the course of his quality representation at the National Assembly, Hon. Dibiagwu embarked and completed the following projects in the last 2 years: sharing of 1,700 improved palm seedlings to farmers, sharing of 18,000 improved cassava stems to farmers, distribution of relief materials to over 15,000 flood displaced persons or flood victims, distribution of palliative materials to over 500 households affected by insecurity in Izombe, Oguta LGA., distribution of palliative materials to over 300 households in Agwa, Oguta LGA., distribution of palliative materials to victims of Oil bunkering explosion in Obitti/Mgbuisii Ohaji and distribution of palliative materials to victims of Oil bunkering explosion in Awara/ Ikwerede Ohaji.
Other beneficiaries of the empowerment programme include: distribution of palliative materials to victims of Oil bunkering explosion from Mgbuisii, Ohaji, distribution of palliative materials to victims of Oil bunkering explosion from Umuapu in Ohaji, distribution of palliative materials to victims of Oil bunkering explosion from Awara, Ikwerede Ohaji, distribution of over 15,000 improved palm seedlings to farmers, provision of roofing sheets to over 50 victims of insecurity in Izombe, Oguta LGA., provision of roofing sheets for the renovation of Agwa Police Station, Oguta LGA., building of 3 classroom block for State Primary School at Eleh, Oru West LGA., installation of solar energy lights at Odo Nkwu, Mmahu, Egbema; installation of solar energy lights at Mgbara, Egbema; installation of solar energy lights at Umuorji Community, Egbema; renovation of class room block at Obogwe Primary School, Awarra, Ohaji; installation of solar energy lights at Obile, Assa, Ohaji; installation of solar energy lights at Asa, Ada, Ohaji; installation of solar energy lights at Umuokwu, Orsu, Amakohia, Izombe, Oguta LGA., training of over 50 youths and women on poultry farm, empowerment of over 50 youths and women with over 2500 broilers, feeds, and poultry farming materials and disbursement of over 1000 50kg of mpk fertilizers to farmers.
To his credit, Hon. Dibiagwu is currently embarking on the
construction of Umualaoma to Catholic Junction road, section A, Akabor, Oguta; construction of Awa road , Oguta; construction of Asa to Idegele road, Awarra, Ohaji/Egbema LGA., construction of Nkwo – Ihitte to Owerri Onitsha road, Oru West LGA,; construction of 6 classroom block at Community Secondary School Awarra, Ohaji/Egbema LGA.;
registration of 2,000 School Certificate Examination for 2024/2025 May/June WAEC examination;
construction of Umualaoma Catholic Church Junction road, section B, Akabor, Oguta LGA.; construction of Nkwo Ihitte road to Owerri Onitsha road, Oru West LGA.; construction of solar powered borehole at Eziorsu, Oru Ward, Oguta LGA.; construction of solar powered borehole at Umuokwu Izombe, Oguta LGA., construction of modern classroom block with modern facilities and solar energy borehole at Otulu Secondary Commercial School, Otulu, Oru West LGA.
Responding on the quality and overwhelming representation at the National Assembly by Hon. Dibiagwu, Prof. Vitalis Nwaulu, Hon. Dr. Henry Okafor, Hon. Barr. Raph Nwosu, and Eze Franklin Okafor (Eze-Ejiamatu), described Hon. Dibiagwu as a true representative of his constituent.
The respondents further added that no Federal Lawmaker, in the past years, has done what Hon. Dibiagwu did at the National Assembly in just in just 2 years, and further described him as man of capacity and integrity.
At the event, a vote of confidence was passed on Hon. Dibiagwu, through a motion raised by Rt. Hon. Donatus Ozoremena, former Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly and seconded by Hon. Sir Gideon Meffor, SA to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma on Palm Plantations ( Adapalm).
Over 200 leaders across the three (3) Local Government Areas of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West, were invited to be part of the constituency briefing.
