The currently elected General Secretary, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Onne Seaport chapter, has bared his mind on some of the challenges that faced by the aspirants in the Progressive Team Initiative (PTI), in the course of the chapter election.
Speaking in an interview with Nigerian MomentumNews Online & Magazine, shortly after the chapters’election at Hotel Presidential, PortHarcourt, Mr. Igweonu C. Onyenye said that they were able to start their election home work early enough.
He maintained that they were able to reach out to various stakeholders across the 3 zones of ANLCA in the course of their consultations and campaigns.
The Secretary elect stated that knowing the number of accredited directors that were to cast the votes, courtesy of the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO), made it easy for them to reach out to those that they were able to reach out to.
Mr. Igweonu, who affirmed of being apprehensive at a particular point in time, during the election, because of the gale of stepping down for one another by some aspirants, said that he decided to hold himself, with the firm decision that he would either win or loose the election at the end of the day.
He further disclosed that certain harmonization efforts could not take place because of the huge amount of money that were already spent by aspirants, pointing out that some of the harmonization efforts were made very late.
On what to do with his office as the General Secretary, Mr. Igweonu opined that his office will always be open for members to access, while assuring of reminding the Chairman elect, Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku on the fulfillment of their campaign promises to members.
He, in the meantime, lauded the effort of all PTI members for their doggedness and selfless commitments that brought about the victory that is being celebrated.
