PortHarcourt – As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence Anniversary, renewed hope shines in the Niger Delta where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is gaining firm support from two influential leaders—High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro.
Their combined efforts in security, education, empowerment, and peacebuilding are shaping a new dawn for the oil-producing communities.
Hon. Dennis Philip speaking on Tompolo’s impact said: “Through Tantita Security Services, Tompolo has drastically reduced oil theft, secured vital pipelines, and helped raise crude production towards 1.8 million barrels per day.
“His endorsement of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and grassroots mobilization is also seen as critical ahead of the 2027 elections,” Mr. Otuaro stated.
In his contribution, Tarry Fayeofori highlights Otuaro’s reforms, adding that: “Since his appointment in 2024, Dr. Otuaro has transformed the Presidential Amnesty Programme. Over 1,700 scholarships, revived overseas training, technical skills development in aviation and maritime, and better data management have brought fresh credibility to the scheme. Women have also received targeted post-training support, opening new economic paths for many families,” Fayeofori affirmed.
Other respondents, which include a Woman Leader, added in her perspective: “These initiatives are not just policies on paper—they are touching lives. Women who once depended on stipends are now trained entrepreneurs. Families are experiencing peace where once there was restiveness.” She pointed out.
While a Youth Leader, who reflected on the future, said: “With education, vocational skills, and opportunities, Niger Delta youths now see hope beyond oil theft. The vision of a productive generation is becoming real under Tompolo and Otuaro’s leaderships,” the youth leader opined.
In conclusion, Hon. Dennis Philip said: “The synergy between Tompolo’s security and infrastructure protection, and Otuaro’s empowerment and reintegration drive, reflects Tinubu’s broader promise of stability and growth. While challenges remain, their partnership is already making the Niger Delta a symbol of renewed hope on this Independence Day,” Hon. Phillip concluded.
