A federal lawmaker representing the good people of Imo East ( Owerri Zone ) Senatorial Zone in the Nigerian Senate, Distinguished Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, has felicitated with Imo East women, as they celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
In his goodwill message, Senator Onyewuchi said: “Women are the conscience of the society, an embodiment of love and source of strength.
“A good woman in a family is a star, a source of inspiration with the strength and courage to build a just society.
“Investing in women is a human rights issue that demands that the society must allow women to attain and exhibit their full potentials in all facets of life.”
Senator Onyewuchi further opined that gender equality remains the greatest human rights challenge, which should be solved without further delay.
According to him; investing in women is a human rights imperative and cornerstone for building inclusive society, whence progress for women benefits all as a family and as a nation.
He described women as progressive agents that accelerate progress, emphasizing that the essential and important roles women play in the family and nation building cannot be undermined.
Senator Onyewuchi who described this year’s International Women’s Day 2024 with the theme: ‘INVESTING IN WOMEN”: as unique and vital; maintained that in a world currently facing multiple crises that are putting immense pressure on communities, that achieving gender equality is more vital now than ever.
He insisted that ensuring women and girls rights across all aspects of life are the only way to secure prosperous and just society for future generations.
The distinguished senator, who said the National Assembly would always promote and defend the rights and interests of the Nigerian women, used the medium to congratulate Imo East women on this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
While urging them to remain the conscience of the society, Onyewuchi called on Owerri Zone women to join other women in the world to celebrate this special day being International Women’s Day with the theme: “Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress.” The lawmaker stated.
