RSG Unveils First Anniversary Programme …As Hon. Johnson Speaks On Health, Other Achievements

The Rivers State Government, through its Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chairman, Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has unveiled a 20 Day Anniversary Programme that will herald the committee’s action plan for a successful one year anniversary of Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s achievements in the first one year as the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

Dr. Danagogo during the press briefing on the 7th of May, 2024 in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital, informed the media that the government of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is embarking on what he described as “quiet revolutionary transformation of the state” and not interested in fanfare on every project.

According to the SSG: “Tuesday, 7th May, 2024 is the media briefing; Tuesday, 14th May, 2024 will be the commissioning of Aleto-Ebubu Eteo (Old Bori) Road; Wednesday, 15th May, 2024 will be the commissioning of Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road (Andoni Section); Thursday, 16th May, 2024 will be the Flag-off day of Elele-Omoku Road; Friday, 17th May, 2024 will be for the commissioning of Emohua-Kalabari (Tema Junction) Road.

“Saturday, 18th May, 2024 and Sunday, 19th May, 2024 are free days; Monday, 20th May, 2024 will be the commissioning of Egbeda Internal Roads; Tuesday, 21st May, 2024 is for the commissioning of Phase 1 of the Port Harcourt Electrical Village & Flag-off of Phase 2 of the same project; Wednesday, 22nd
and Thursday, 23rd May, 2024 will be the day for Rivers State Economic Investment Summit 2024; Friday, 24th May, 2024 will be for the Flag-off of Okania-Ogbogoro Road; Saturday, 25th May, 2024 will be for the commissioning of the Dualized Omoku – Egbema Road, while Sunday, 26th May, 2024 will be a free day.

“Monday, 27th May, 2024 will be used for Children’s Day activities and reception for Kids by Her Excellency and State Banquet to mark the State Anniversary and launching of book; Tuesday, 28th May, 2024 will be for Youth Affairs (Launching of Youth Development Programme); Wednesday, 29th May, 2024 will be used for the Account of Stewardship by the Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

“Thursday, 30th May, 2024 will as well, be the Flag-off day of Trans- Kalabari Road Phase II; Friday, 31st May, 2024 will be for Chieftaincy Affairs (Presentation of Certificate of Recognition) at 11.00am, while Praise Night will commence at 4.00pm. Saturday, 1st June, 2024 will be for Rivers State International Marathon and Sunday, 2nd June, 2024 will be for thanksgiving on what God has been doing in the state,” Dr. Danagogo stated.

He further disclosed the decision of the state government to dwell on the three (3) critical aspects of all the the projects embarked upon by Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s administration, pointing out that a detailed list of projects and each kobo spent on the projets will be made available for the people of the state during the anniversary by the state governor.

Dr. Danagogo in the meantime, opined that the Trans-Kalabari Road project was an initiative of Sir Dr. Peter Odili, former governor of Rivers State, which former governors Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike made impacts on, while Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration is currently handling the Andoni aspect of the road project, pointing out that the Bodo Road is a Federal Government project.

He further emphasised that 20% of the Emohuo-Kalabari Road project which was dualized, was paid by the immediate past administration, while 80% of the project is paid by the current administration of Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Rivers State, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson enumerated on some of the achievements by Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the areas of: education, health and agriculture, among others, adding that the state government is currently recruiting doctors and nurses to feel the gaps in the rural areas.
