The Customs Area Comptroller (CAC) of Onne Area II Command, Rivers State, Mr. Mohammed Babandede, has been honoured in his home State of Jigawa.
The Area Comptroller, who was at the end of last year’s Comptroller General of Customs’ (CG) Conference in Abuja, honoured with an Award of “Best Anti-smuggling Comptroller,” by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The reason for the “Best Anti-smuggling Comptroller” Award was as a result of several lives of Nigerians that he must have saved through various seizures of illicit drugs and ammunition at Onne Seaport, under his watch.
In the same vein, Comptr. Babandede was on the 7th of January, 2025, honoured in his home State of Jigawa, Northern Nigeria, with the title of “Magajin Rafin” of Jigawa State.
Report has it that Comptr. Babandede was honoured with such a prestigious title by his people as a result of his selfless commitment and contributions to the safety of lives of many Nigerians and the economic growth of the nation, through the Nigeria Customs Service.
Recall that Chief Godfrey Ifeanyi Isikaku (Onwa), who won the just concluded chairmanship seat of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) on the 6th of January, 2025 at Hotel Presidential, PortHarcourt, left the city, the following day with his team, to be part of the all important ceremony.
Chief Isikaku, who is a freight forwarder and the MD/CEO, Godify Group of Companies Limited (Operators of Slot Bonded Terminal), on a phone chat with Nigerian Momentum NewsOnline & Magazine, congratulated Comptr. Babandede for the great honour that was conferred on him, by his people.
He further commended the maritime stakeholders in his team to the event, which include but not limited to: Chief Henry Njoku, former BoT and now one of the Patrons of ANLCA; Prince Uche Nwala and Mr. Adindu Amadi, among others.
