Rotary Club Of PortHarcourt Municipal Receives Charter Certificate …As Club Inducts First President

A newly chartered Rotary Club International known as Rotary Club of PortHarcourt Municipal, has received its Chartered Certificate from the Rotary Club International.

Before the official presentation of the Charter Certificate, Past President (PP) and Club’s New Adviser, Rtn. Frank Eni, disclosed that
‘Charter Certificate Presentation is a formal ceremony in Rotary International, to announce the admission of a new Rotary Club into the annals of Rotary International.’

The event which took place on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 was a historic day for the Rotary Club of PortHarcourt Municipal recently admitted into the rank of clubs in Rotary International on January 8th, 2025.

The District Governor, RI District 9141, Rtn. Chinedu Ikegwuani accompanied by the District Secretary, Rtn. Nkeiru Enyia to the ceremony, presented the Club Charter Certificate to the Charter President, Rtn. Oludayo Olubanji.

Earlier In his opening remarks, the Club’s New Adviser, Past President Frank Eni, noted that the Rotary Club of PortHarcourt Municipal ‘is a drive towards due diligence and integrity of purpose.’

He further said that the search for due diligence, fairness and justice united four friends: Frank Eni, Oludayo Olubanji, Uduak Nkereuwem Effiong and Prince Chinonso Lazarus Obiko in their thoughts for due process, quality and transparent leadership, and urged the club leadership to uphold the driving philosophy at all times and in all challenges.

The ceremony witnessed the transfer of Insignia of Office from the New Club Adviser, Frank Eni, who took charge of proceedings to the first Charter President, Rtn. Oludayo Olubanji.

The District Governor, Rtn. Chinedu Ikegwuani before handing over the Charter Certificate to the first Charter President, spoke on the importance of the Certificate to the club.

He noted that the Certificate, which ought to be preserved, must always form part of the club meetings and to be passed on from one administration to another.

The special guest of honour at the event, Honourable Kuro Briggs, thanked the club for bringing him back to Rotary and as well, congratulated the Rotary Club of PortHarcourt Municipal for coming on board.

He, in the meantime, advised the Charter President from the point of hindsight, having been a Charter President himself, that his duties were enormous if the club must be sustained and the purpose of the organization realized.

The event also, witnessed the pronouncement of the Charter President, Rtn. Oludayo Olubanji as a Paul Harris Fellow, having made a contribution of $1000 to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

This, makes him the first Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), that the new club is producing.

Highlights of the ceremony include: the induction of a new member and sale of auction materials, which generated the sum of one million naira (N1,000,000).

The Charter Presentation Lecture on the theme: “Opportunities For Service,” was eloquently delivered by AG Stanley Echefu.
