The management of ICTSI Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), has inaugurated two giant mobile harbour canes to facilitate the ease of doing business in its terminal.
Presenting his address at the inauguration ceremony on the 6th of December, 2024 at OMT, Mr. Gulmann Jacob, MD/CEO, ICTSI Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT), described the inauguration of the two mobile harbour cranes as a milestone of over 25 million dollar investment and achievement by the management of OMT.
He said that the achievements so far recorded by OMT in the last few years wouldn’t have been possible, if not for the support of relevant government agencies at the port and other stakeholders. 
The MD further opined that the inauguration of the two mobile harbour cranes will make significant impacts in ease of doing business at the terminal, and as well, help in boosting the revenue of the management and that of the Federal Government, in line with the vision of the Federal Government on the Blue Economy.
Mr. Jacob, who disclosed that the impacts of the cranes would be beneficial to both the management of OMT and stakeholders, used the medium to commend the MD/CEO, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Dantsoho Abunakar; Nigeria Customs Service (NCS); Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other government agencies operating at the port.
Mr. Jacob equally thanked the management of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC); Odest Global Resources Limited (Operators of Odest Bonded Terminals); Godify Group of Companies Limited (Operators of Slot Bonded Terminal); Kingsoo Group; ANLCA, Onne Seaport chapter; NAGAFF, Onne Seaport chapter and RFFN, Onne Seaport chapter, among others.
He, in the meantime, enjoined all relevant stakeholders to take advantage of their newly built Container Freight Station/Warehouse, which was commissioned shortly after the inauguration of the cranes, to carry out their onward freight activities at Onne Seaport.
Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Comptroller of Onne Area II Command, Mr. Mohammed Babandede, Represented by Deputy Comptroller (DC) Enforcement, CC Nwokorie, thanked the management of OMT for sustaining its tempo of progress and development in the last few years, assuring that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) under the control of Comptroller Mohammed Babandede will continue to work in synergy with OMT, for the good of all stakeholders and the Federal Government.
DC Nwokorie, on behalf of the CAC Onne Area II Command, Comptr. Mohammed Babandede, commissioned the Container Freight Station built by OMT for public use.
While the MD/CEO of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Dantsoho Abubakar, who commissioned the two mobile harbour cranes through his representative at the event, lauded the management of OMT on its developmental milestones in the last four years.
He promised to collaborate with the federal government and its relevant agencies operating at the port, to support OMT.
He opined that the inauguration of the cranes will improve the service delivery and revenue generation of the management and the Federal Government as well, adding that the development is an indication of what the future holds for OMT.
In the same vein, the duo of Mr. Mike Ebeatu, Chairman, ANLCA, Onne Seaport chapter and Mr. Udi Goldberg, Commercial Manager, MSC, commended the management of OMT for the giant strides and promised to continue to work in synergy with the management in their respective business interests.
Speaking in an interview with Nigerian MomentumNews Online & Magazine, Super High Chief Blaise Chigozie Odigbo, the MD/CEO, Great Focus Investment Consultants Limited, lauded the management and staff of OMT for their show of seriousness in business.
He was of the view that the successful inauguration of the two cranes will be an added advantage to OMT’s business community and the nation at large.
Super High Chief Odigbo in the meantime, urged the management of OMT to keep up with its stakeholders engagement from time to time, adding that it will help in building a stronger synergy between the management and critical stakeholders.
